Barauna is an excellent specie at and around the water
level. Since the ancient Jesuit’ churches, barauna is used in Bolivia as construction
supports under these churches. After a couple of hundred years, the barauna
posts are still in excellent condition and none of these ancients churches
needs to be even renovated.
Hardydeck’s experience is that most clients
seem to sell it as an alternative for wider known (African) Azobé. However,
Azobé might be better known, its availability compared to Barauna is the
difference. If you need some vast quantities with a reliable lead time of
delivery, then you definitely better opt for Hardydeck’s Barauna. The same
is true for Brazilian competitor Angelim Vermelho nowadays. Furthermore,
Barauna is also cheaper
